A detailed car maintenance is able to reduce the potential damage to your car. So, let's understand the three important elements that need to be regularly addressed in your car care

1. Engine Oil

Engine oil function is to maintain engine operation by reducing friction between components. This will reduce the impact of wear and tear on components. There are two types of engine oil which are the synthetic oils (Fully or semi synthetic) and the mineral oil.

Engine oil needs to be changed depending on the duration of use or the total distance travelled. In general, engine oils should be changed every 10,000km or 6 months.

However, you are advised to change the engine oil depending on the type of engine oil used or car manufacturer recommendation. Failure to change the engine oil exceeding the scheduled mileage will cause the oil starting to thicken and stick to the inside of the engine. This can contribute to engine damage and various other problems. Change of oil filter is also recommended every time you change the engine oil.

2. Battery

Car batteries can be divided into two types: Wet cells and dry cells. The use of the battery type depends on your type of car. The type of battery can be identified according to its purpose, where wet cell batteries will have a lid to cover where the distilled water is poured while the dry cell does not. jumper-cables-926308_1280-1-1080x675

The batteries generally have a lifespan of 2 years and can last up to 4 years, depending on the type of battery and if properly maintained. Replacement of distilled water for wet cell batteries should often be performed as the battery will lose charge if left unchecked for more than 6 months.

3. Tires

Tire care should be focused as it promotes comfortable and safe driving. You will need to keep an eye on the level of your tire wear, preferably once a week. This can be done by looking at the mark at the centre of the tire. Tire needs to be exchanged promptly if the tire on the tire is less than the mark. Air pressure on tires also needs to be monitored regularly.

It is important to set the air pressure on the tire according to the specification set by the car manufacturer. Low tire air pressure can affect driving stability level while high tires air pressure can cause tire wear and tear easily.
